Principals Can Use Data To Identify Teachers' Needs and Develop Them Professionally

Eidex is a wonderful resource for building principals! School Leaders have access to both formative and summative assessments using the Eidex website. NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) and M-STEP (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress) are two examples of assessments that can be analyzed. Principals can use this data analytics resource to support Professional Learning Teams in effectively analyzing student achievement data for the purpose of guiding instruction and designing meaningful student interventions.

The Eidex dashboard allows users to organize and disaggregate data by building according to grade level, teacher, content area, ethnicity, gender, and trends over time. After a careful analysis of student data, Professional Learning Teams can then write academic goals with intentionality and specificity for both achievement and growth. This information also helps teachers thoughtfully plan instruction that is differentiated for learners based on individual needs. After goal setting and planning instruction that includes intervention design, the next step would be to select a progress monitoring tool. Once this step is completed, the Team can determine the frequency and duration with which the tool will be administered, to accurately measure progress towards mastery of the goal. An instructional leader can also produce reports that highlight student growth as part of a measure of progress. The capability to reference a variety of reliable data sources and reports empowers Grade Level Teams, MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) Teams and School Improvement Teams as they make important decisions that help ensure that ALL students experience success as learners during the school year!
